Danish Amber Brooch

I like wearing greens, golds and browns - autumn colours I suppose.

This is one of my favourite pieces of jewellery, gifted to me by a friend who had been visiting Copenhagen.

Amber is known as the Gold of the Sea. It is only slightly heavier than salt water. During storms when the sea water is disturbed, light pieces of amber rise to the surface and come ashore with the strong waves. In Denmark, amber is often found on the west coast of Jutland.
