Lighting His Own Candles?

We tied up at Parker Island today to visit NannaK and H...we had stayed at Montague Harbour last night, and the weather has turned to a showery mix. When we came over this morning it was quite windy...and it always makes me a bit nervous when Bob jumps off the boat to tieup, and I'm at the helm. But all went well, and we are now visitors at Whyte Strand.

NannaK and H have their two grandson's visiting for a week...and we sure enjoyed meeting them and their mother A. Bob took everyone for a boat ride up to a sheer cliff on Galiano Island in hopes of seeing some of the baby cormorants in their nests, but we didn't see a one. By the time we returned the rain had kicked up, and the wind was quite blustery, so once again I was at the helm, this time with an audience...but Bob got the boat tied off quickly and we were home safe.

The boys learned all of the parts of the boat, the proper names for things, ie ropes/lines, kitchen/galley, etc. They were pretty excited to get a boat ride, and Bob invited them to spend the night sometime...while H and K said we would probably be getting an email soon from them to take us up on our offer, ha!

Right before dinner we caught sight of a mink on the dock ramp, which was a first for me! He was very interesting, looking so much like an otter, but NannaK said that the otters never go on the ramp.

It's Bob's birthday today, which now makes him a year old than myself, whew! NannaK made him a beautiful cherry/apple pie and you see him here, lighting his own candles:)) We sang Happy Birthday to him, after having a salmon/salad dinner and several bottles of wine to celebrate. It was a fun night on the boat...and the sunset sky was amazing.

Tomorrow K and I have plans to do some ART!
