The Clifmeister

Characters from Surf Tour I - Sam Clifton. This my man, on the beaches of Sagres. I've met a lot of people through the club this year, but many of them I hadn't got to know properly until now. Clifton's one of those and a good guy, so at least I don't feel so bad about having giving him a bunch of my coursework!

Excuse the non-chronological nature of the photos for Surf Tour. That's what you get when photo-taking falls through at the end of uni... Basically, I've been too caught up with everything to take care of photography. Also, saying goodbye to Photosoc has left me with a grand total of two lenses, both of which are not exactly ideal for casual photography.

Today was the trip from Leamington to Sagres. On the very last day of uni ever, I got the very first bus in to campus. That's right, the one that leaves before 7am. Half the crew was already on board. Of course, it being surf, some people were already well on their way to powering through the boring journey with a bottle of wine. But then again it's surf, so no journey is gonna be boring anyway. Bus ride on to campus, coach journey to Stansted, flight to Lisbon, coach journey down to Sagres. Most of it went by smoothly, but not without some antics on the way. The arrival of Andrew Armstrong at the last minute possible. Danger sachet at the airport. A particularly good round of embarrassing stories on the way down to Sagres. Mikey waking people up the usual way. 1.5l bottles of sangria for less than €2. Our boy Roy the bus driver getting us lost. ... and so on and so on. This is like a domestic surf tour, but on another level (so many levels...)!

Our boys Mason, Julian and Conor had drove down in the van with all the surf boards and already set up the tents at the campsite, in one big circle. Literally couldn't have been any better. Ali, Verity, Maddy, Polly and me are sharing tent #2. Not satisfied by the long day of traveling, a bunch of us spearheaded a group into town to the local bars (not easy). It was a good night, Mikey and me did a mini-bar crawl to try out all the bars. The main one had a dance floor we filled easily and good cocktails. A bit too much glass smashing though, right Sarah? And the late arrival of Julian made for a long walk home with Kate, Ben and Ali!

It's gonna be a good tour! If anything, this was probably the tamest day as well.

Song of the day - Sonnentanz
