Wild Walk

When I turn up in the office on a hot day in a smart shirt and tie I am usually greeted by the same old comments 'going on another free lunch then ?'

Some free lunch when the grant for the project opening I was attending was £30,000.

The said project was the new Wild Walk at Martin Mere wetland centre. The whole idea of the walk is to get families and young people engaged in the outdoors beyond the captive collection of waterfowl etc which is only a small part on the centre. The Wild Walk has several interactive features including the skylark listening post, a giant eartrumpet that focuses the sounds from the reedbeds. It certainly worked on a pair of cooing wood pigeons. The wild walk is supposed to be a wet and squelchy experience in part of a reedbed but after a such a prolonged dry period wellies were not required.

There was a pleasant buffet lunch and afternoon tea.
