Mother Eagle Comes In For A Feeding

I spent the day watching the eagle's nest in Washington County OR...waiting for the baby eagle to fledge the nest. But it didn't happen today...maybe tomorrow. It's so interesting to watch the parents taking care of the baby...bringing in food for the young one. Here we see the mother bringing in something she has just caught...once she arrives at the nest the youngster hovers over the food (called mantling), telling everyone that "THIS IS MINE". The mother stands back and let's him try to pull apart the food...and will step in and help later, often beak feeding the eaglet.
