On the Waterfront

Rich and I had the pleasure of taking the "Bellingham's Future Waterfront Tour" this afternoon and I am so glad that we did. This leisurely two-hour boat tour (on a magnificent summer evening) departed from the Alaska Ferry Terminal and slowly meandered through the ins and outs of the Bellingham waterfront. Two representatives from the Port of Bellingham provided fascinating background, anecdotes, and history of various points along the waterfront while also outlining the Port's plans for impending changes and development over the next several years.

We have a significant chunk of prime waterfront real estate that still bears the scars of overuse from previous industrial endeavors during an era when we were less environmentally aware, so significant cleanup needs to be done before the development portion can begin.

For anyone in or near Bellingham, I wholeheartedly recommend the Waterfront tour, offered every Thursday throughout the summer.
