My Life in A&E

By gilvratina

After a packed day in Würzburg, which included the Schloss and the Residenz - both of which we actually went into, we took the train to Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

R-o-d-T is a medieval town with a walled part - a large part of which you can walk along. It was full of small streets and quaint shops and in English speaking circles is famous because part of the film "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" was filmed there. We tried to find a hotel, but were laughed out of the tourist office because there was an acupuncture conference on and there were no beds to be had for love nor money.

We did, however have enough time to walk around, see the torture museum from the outside (which had the Child Catcher's carriage (minus the sweets) from "CCBB" sitting in front of it - how cool is that?!?) and have a traditional Franken Spargel (asparagus) dinner whilst sitting outside, in the oldest inhabited building in the town (the sign for which you can see above).

Home by midnight. A good trip was had by all.
