The only beneficial side-effect of having a triffid in the corner of the garden is that we will never be short of canes for the allotment. The latest drastic pruning (which will hopefully reduce the energy-generating capacity of the remaining plant to stop it spreading so quickly as well as give me enough space to try and divide the rootclump a bit) yielded enough for several trelles, with enough left for a large sunshade frame.
