Spring Fever

It was a brilliant morning so grabbed my gear and walked up to the Estate to check out how the tuis were. Wow....they were everywhere, seems like they have spring fever.
There is a prunus in full bloom with at least 50 tuis flitting all over the tree, diving, screeching, hanging on to the branches upside down to get to the nectar. It is as though they are drunk on it as they are in such a frenzy. I think they are also getting ready for mating.

Had a great time taking heaps of photos, I was trying to get them in flight, but they move so quick. Most ended up in the recycle bin, but got a few that I was happy with.

Seems like I have spring fever too, spent the rest of the day pruning and clearing away the winter debris in the garden. Tonight though the joints are complaining, but feel good to see it starting to look as though it is ready for spring. Lots more to be done yet.
