Aurora from the Sand Dunes, Kaitorete Spit

Another night amongst the stars for me tonight, this time I'm not alone.

Daring2Go accompanied on tonight's trip down to the dunes on Kaitorete Spit - the thin strip of land between Lake Ellesmere/Te Waihora and the Pacific Ocean- to see if we could see the aurora australis once more.

After initial cloud out to sea, the skies cleared enough to allow me to capture this image of Daring2Go setting up her blip for tonight of the aurora and Milky Way.

Thanks to all those who commented and rated my Aurora shot from last night. The fantastic response saw it shoot to the top of Spotlight. What's more the shot will be making an appearance in The Press, Christchurch's daily paper, tomorrow :-)
