Longhope Lifeboat

Spent most of the day in the garden and along at the allotment - or allittlement as we have taken to calling it! In amongst the trees, willows and sycamore mostly, it was
sheltered from the wind and lovely and warm in the sun.

I'm only digging a couple of rows at a time as it is hard going and I'm trying to pace myself! Lots of bramble and nettle root but very few worms, which is interesting . . .

In the evening we watched as the Longhope Lifeboat came into the bay, right outside the sitting room window, for some training manoeuvres. The evening light was on them, lighting up the red sandstone cliff behind them.

The RNLI are a brave bunch and always ready for a call out, but the Longhope one is especially close to a lot of folk's hearts. Read all about the Longhope lifeboat disaster of 1969 here . . . so sad when you realise all the family relationships.
