We Interrupt This Programme....

BBC Radio was stopped in its tracks for a while today. I was just in the middle of recording the presenter's script for tomorrow's edition of Weekend Woman's Hour when the fire alarm went off and all the staff working in Old Broadcasting House traipsed down the stairs and spilled out into the street to assemble on the other side of All Souls Church. We were stuck out there for more than half an hour while the London Fire Brigade investigated. Live programmes fell off the air, and pre-recorded ones ran out of their booked time in the studios.

After catching up on the gossip as we waited for the all-clear, we spent the rest of the day catching up on our work.

I'm really tired now, and feel like I could sleep for a hundred years. What a way to end a taxing week - unbelievably only four days long!
