Piel Castle, Piel Island, Barrow in Furness

This was worth the wait. When I turned 50 13 months ago Mrs Wild got me a birthday treat, an intro to Sea kayaking Weekend based at Tower Wood OEC on Windermere. Day one was a paddle on the lake to get used to the boats, day two was a full blown salt water experience in the Walney Channel off Barrow in Furness and then around the south point of Walney Island for the Grey Seals and then up the Irish Sea Coast along Walney Island before landing on the sandy beach on a falling tide. The weather made the day, great new bird watching aspects with terns and wading birds up close plus the curious grey seals. Can't wait to go again.
