Rare Rain

A rare rainy day in Southern California, most likely spinoff from Hurricane Norbert, left us puttering around the apartment most of the day. Interesting how reliant we have become, in just three short weeks, on the consistent sunshine that is the hallmark of this area. We didn't want to do anything! We finally forced ourselves to get out for a bit of lunch and because we have no car, we walk & bus everywhere. On the way to Pine Street we passed these leaves in front of our place. The overcast light created some nice modulated shadows and allowed the texture of the leaves to shine through. I think the raindrops added additional interest to these pretty leaves and their tropicalness made us think of home for perhaps the first time since we arrived.
