Nice when your birthday coincides with Friday and the lunchtime school finish.

He came home, unwrapped some parcels that had just arrived in the post and now intends to spend the rest of the afternoon dressed in his new t.shirt, playing his new xbox game, reading graphic novels and books about graphic novels and working his way through a large packet of sweeties.

To be followed by a tea of beans on toast (his celebration meal of choice), birthday cake and then an evening watching Akira Kurosawa's Ran

Not a bad way to spend your birthday I reckon.
