Thursday: Kotor

We arrived slightly too late for many decent photos but here is a slight sense of what awaits us here in Kotor.

But, back to't beginning......we left Mljet this morning for the car ferry back to the mainland. We then went on the most stunning drive down the coast to the Croatian - Montenegrin border. I am not sure why but there was something vaguely intimidating about the border - probably due to the longest no man's land ever and very grim officials who could just grunt 'Automobilni Dokumenti' at us....

The changes as soon as we crossed the border were remarkable! We had barely turned the first corner when we had to stop because of two cows grazing in the middle of the road. This was rapidly followed by a shop selling nothing but toilet brushes.

Anyway, we have now arrived safely in Kotor, Montenegro. It has a wonderfully atmospheric, yet slightly gritty, old town, surrounded by massive hills. We are staying just a few minutes walk outside the old town, past some very communist style buildings, surrounded by palm trees - a bit Moscow in the Bahamas.

Tomorrow's explore should be fascinating - I think this place has great promise!

Despite not being in the UK, and not having a vote, I am so anxious about what tomorrow's results will bring.....surely this has to go the right way?
