Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft

We went to see my Dad in Cheshire today and decided to go and take a few pictures of the Lovell telescope at Jodrell Bank, the third largest steerable radio telescope in the world. LooseCanon has blipped a rather higher quality picture of it from the opposite direction.
I hope their steering attempts are rather more precise than our efforts at getting a picture on the satellite TV in our motorhome, which usually consists of L/C wandering around a wet field with the dish and a compass and shouting to me
Can you see anything?
No. Yes yes No.
Can you see a green line?
Yes. No .
It's that tree that's in the way. Either we'll have to move pitch or you'll have to miss tonight's Downton/ Bake off/ Scott and Bailey.
I'm sure the University of Manchester which oversees Jodrell bank has a slightly more sophisticated method than this.
We're planning to go back when the visitor centre is open as it's a fantastic location.
