The Little Blue Digger

Today the little blue digger and his friends the stump grinder and water blaster came to visit. They worked hard all day, digging, hoeing, grinding and water blasting - the boys and their toys were having a field day!

My garden is in the shape of a back to front capital E without the middle line, wrapping itself around our house. The first image, top left, shows our entrance way being taken over by the little blue digger, note the bottom of my cabbage trees and my green maple. The second image, top middle, is the rear of our section facing west with cabbage tree in the corner and where my roses used to live. We used to have a swing hanging from the pergola when our girls were young. It also has my new red maple sitting in the middle of what was a garden full of gazanias, they will be going back. Top right is facing north and is a small view from our lounge, the trunk of my beech tree can be seen in the corner and camellia Mimosa Jury still going strong with its pink blooms.

Middle row with the red rhododendron is looking east to west, there's normally a small brick path edged with odd shaped stones/rocks which connects the two areas, it will be going back. The shaded part was my woodland area with tall native trees underplanted with hostas and hellebores and will continue to be so but the area by the red rhododendron is now going to be getting a lot more sun which is kind of nice, sun loving plants will be put in there.

Overall all gardens will be reduced in size, my cottage garden area will be put into mainly grass as there's still plenty of room for those style of plants along the fence line and in other areas. The ground will be levelled off and a new lawn will be sown, no more uneven ground resulting from the earthquakes, no more puddles and lots of green grass especially under the trees - it's going to be a real haven to wander with a cuppa in hand.

Large is better.

Monday - the day the little blue digger came to visit, what a great day!
