By Himself

By Himself

To the woods

Such a glorious day that we took ourselves of to Rineen Woods near Union Hall. Rineen Woods stretch along the steep sides of a tidal estuary which is rich in wading birds (and mud). The woods are known for the fairy houses that have appeared under the trees. (See Herself's entry for today)

The sunshine was streaming through the canopy making photography tricky but I felt that this one, with it's pools of light on the path matched my experience quite closely.

On the way home we could't help but notice that today seems to be muck-spreading Monday in West Cork and there was a sharp tang in the air. Sure enough, arriving home, the field next to us had been done too so we now have the full West Cork Whiff.
