Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Guilty, m'lud!

Uncle A came to inspect the new path and declared it superb.

A dreich day, but a productive indoor one! Cupboards were sorted. Stuff was re-arranged, junk was biffed, good stuff (unwanted bay window curtains) to the charity shop, a shopping expedition to buy a saw (I inherited the huge pile of wood that Craig used to make the path shelter - so I'll be busy sawing from now till Christmas). We even managed to fit the portable barbecue into a cupboard! I added other good stuff on Gumtree - all in all a Very Good Day's Work.

We have been here almost a year, and stuff was just jammed in cupboards while more pressing things were attended to. And then more stuff was stuffed in on top. Now that it's organised, we seem to have plenty of room.

Archie wondered what all the fuss was about, but had great fun hanging around, waiting to nab anything from the floor - plastic containers, bits of paper, bags. He’d make off outside with them as fast as he could.

His day, when he’s not sleeping or running round like a crazy thing, is to be on the lookout for any goodies. He will peer endlessly into waste paper baskets, longing to reach - but just not quite able to - a crumpled bit of paper or, even better, a (used) tissue!! He can get his nose into the shredder and pull out delicious little bits of paper. He regularly checks the sofa where we put ironing - there might just be a wee thing he can grab hold of, especially a sock... We can’t leave anything on the coffee table…

Just spotted him sneaking by carrying - carefully, it must be said - JR’s sunglasses. So funny. So I made him pose with them on.
