Gillipaw's Journal

Burrell Collection, Pollok Park, Glasgow

A Listed, built in 1983, specially to house the collection of shipping magnate Sir William Burrell. In 1944, he left more than 8,000 items to the City of Glasgow.

Paintings, sculpture, tapestries, armour, stained glass, embroidery, ceramics, glassware, porcelain, wooden church furniture, carpets, three re-created rooms from his home Hutton Castle ... I could go on. He collected so many different things.

I regularly visit the Collection, and enjoyed a walk in the park this afternoon. Lovely autumnal colours, leaves falling fast now.

Home, and a surprise visit from two of our nephews, who were over visiting their Grandparents.
