Friday bike ride - without bikes

Today’s weather forecast for our area, issued yesterday said rain all morning clearing about noon and then sunny this afternoon. Technophobe and I therefore arranged to meet around 12:30 to go on our Friday bike ride.

Today’s forecast issued this morning said rain this morning and clearing up this afternoon. We therefore conferred about 10 am and decided to go as soon as we could don our workman hi-viz kits (a.k.a. cycling gear).

On with the top, the jacket, the trousers, the helmet, not forgetting my newly acquired hi-viz gloves. Opened the back door – it was absolutely pouring down. After another conflab, we decided to cut out the middle-man (i.e. the bicycles) and just go for a coffee instead - by car.

Our coffee stop of choice was a local farm shop / gift shop / restaurant. As usual, coffee was great. Note – no cakes or shortbread – we did not deserve them today. That is only a reward for cycling a considerable distance. We drove.

After leaving the coffee shop, we had a brief foray into the gift shop and then the farm shop. I took this photo of a rather splendid array of small pumpkins, which we decided would be very tasty cooked and then the flesh used to make soup, and served in the now empty pumpkin shells, as they were just the right size to use as soup bowls. They were also a very reasonable 50 pence each.

It looks as though this lady was about to buy two - either that or she was doing a very poor Benny Hill impression.

Our Friday bike ride will take place Saturday - weather permitting.
