Marla's box...

It's now monday morning and the taxi came for Marla at 2.30 am....her flight was leaving at 5.30am! Wow, what a weekend we had! i can now take some time to reflect on all that happened.

Marla gave such an amazing workshop, so full of tips and tools, comments that both helped and encouraged us. She has that rare blend of being so full of passion, so knowledgeable about her materials, and a deep sense of encouraging those of us who are struggling to make our own way in this compelling need to make art! She really gets it...and is so good at demonstrating all that it takes and requires to be an artist! Watching her demonstrate was such a pleasure - she so clearly loves what she is doing, and she loves sharing her process. For 3 days she was full of energy, attention and such
good humor.....she was an absolute joy to have around. Everyone of us learned so much and found her words of encouragement so helpful. Meals were fabulous...everyone out did themselves with offerings of wonderful food.

Yesterday evening, Marla, Richard, Terry, Lynne (from Toronto) and i enjoyed a lovely quiet dinner together.....compared to the more energetic meals that incorporated 11 of us! Marla totally surprised and delighted me when she told me she was leaving me this beautiful and stunning painting - i was absolutely blown away!

It is a wet and moody day out there....but i don't have anything that needs doing, so i'm happy to be relaxing, remembering all that happened over the weekend, and still enjoying having Lynne here for another 2 days!

This image is of her pastel box, the importance of it is the organization of the pastels....very helpful to aid with the choosing of a stick!
