I found one!

A masked plover (spur-winged plover) nest!

I took a wee walk today and when I came out into a field two plovers took flight, most upset. They were screeching at me and flying about frantically over my head so I knew they must have a nest nearby. I didn't want to upset them so I headed off out of their way - but inadvertently almost stepped on the nest.

I had to back up to take this as I had my big lens on at the time. A couple of quick clicks (well okay, I took 4 shots) and I headed in the other direction. The plovers were most indignant as they continued screeching at me until I was well away.

I did sneak back 10 minutes later and one of them was back on the nest so all is well.
