At The Brewery

We went to Jester King Brewery in the Hill Country near Austin this afternoon. Here's an extract from their website home page:

Jester King is an authentic farmhouse brewery committed to making wild ales and spontaneously fermented beers that reflect the unique character of our location in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

The beers I sampled were excellent.

The brewery is in an old building that used to house a machine shop, on a sprawling site with picnic tables shaded by trees, with more seating in a large covered area. There's also a rustic restaurant serving pizzas cooked in wood-fired ovens.

It was a sunny day with gentle breezes, and there must have been a couple of hundred mellow people of all ages -- plus quite a few dogs -- having a good time. I'm so glad that my in-house travel organizer found this place. Thanks are also to due to sister-in-law M for driving us there through some very heavy traffic.

P.S. I almost forgot to mention that the restrooms were in a converted Airstream trailer!
