Frederick Chapman Minchin

This is my great-great Uncle. During World War I he served on HMS Canada, which was part of the Battle of Jutland in 1916. He was 37. He survived but sadly suffered a number of strokes, was partially blind and died in a nursing home in 1925 at the age of 46.

Youngest son's school asked all pupils to write down the names of their ancestors who had served in World War I, they were then going to display all the names on a large poppy in the hall.

He was chuffed to be given the crocheted poppy by his friend whose mum had made it for him. Clever lady! He made the bookmark at Beavers.
