A squash and a squeeze

How DO cats manage to squeeze themselves into the smallest spaces? And why do they want to anyway????

Heating is on the blink :-( I'm absolutely freezing! Will be going to bed with about 10 layers on tonight. Only 2 hot water bottles to go round four of us!!
