Desperately seeking

The Middle Of Nowhere

Or so we thought! Especially on a dismal day like today. We needed somewhere picturesque and with some flowing water to help a lady understand the settings on her camera. We had an ideal place chosen with a reasonable flat place for parking and a level walk for someone using crutches.

The access to this spot is via a single track road with ditches and rocks either side. "Is that the spot?" asked the driver looking ahead. A minibus appeared, coming towards us. We found somewhere to pull over, but so did the minibus, onto our spot! We waited for the driver to realise we had stopped and continue his journey, people started getting out. Then along came another minibus. Then a car. We waited for these vehicles to come back into view, out of the bends. No sign, they must have stopped, too.

So finally our little plot of flat grass had 2 minibuses and five cars on it. Then we came along! One lady nearly didn't join the party as she was scared of following her friends in her car through the 4 inches of water in the ford shown on the blip. (The ford is in the centre of the photo, forward of the footbridge.)

The worry was, had these couple of dozen people brought cameras to jostle for prime position to photograph this stream? Thankfully , no. They huddled in a group listening to a man talking, walked across the common, walked back and went.

We were getting cold and wet so when our lady had got a few shots to demonstrate the use of manual settings, we went too. I quickly grabbed a few shots for myself, though I may have blipped this before.

Back to the warm studio for lunch and some table-top photography.
