Diary of an Edinburgher

Baby

There was nearly another aggressive incident on our morning walk today. Though not totally unprovoked. And not from Master Archie, either…

He still has his puppy expectation that people will want to pat him, so if he’s not totally engaged in delicious smells, and someone passes us, he will go straight to them, full of expectation (which is rarely realised), and often touch their leg with his nose.

Today he did it to a man who was stomping along carrying a heavy carrier bag of bottles of wine (or possibly, bottles of vodka). Unfortunately, his wee head connected with the bag and there was a CLUNK. The man walked on, with, I do believe, a vague wave of his hand… I was so taken aback that I didn’t run after him and accost him. How could you whack a wee dog on the head and walk on?

I popped to my ex-neighbour to take photos of the new baby, R. Unfortunately, R was not in the mood for posing and after the first few minutes, he bawled and bawled and got louder and louder. And redder and redder. Not a total success...

The Deed is booked in for Monday morning. We have to go ahead and get it done before he goes and stays with the sitters. We can’t risk another ‘incident’.

He's none the wiser.
