The fool on the hill

I set my GPS thing to shortest route. Shorter routes seem to work out about 20% fewer miles but add 50% to the time - and take you down some ridiculously narrow roads behind ridiculously slow old ladies. I sort of compromised and got back onto the A40 near Sennybridge; adding a couple of miles but saving half an hour.
Those gizmos need a clever shortish but have a bit of common sense fer gawd's sake setting.
BTW. RIP Fred WEdlock. Like most people I only knew him through this. But anyone who's made someone laugh has lived a worthy life.
