Monomonday: (Not-So-Stately) Home

Today's entry for the monomonday challenge, hosted by skeena, shows the not-so- magnificent wrought iron gate that opens onto the gardens surrounding the rear approach to our not-so-stately home. I must have a word with the gardener about that weed.

Apart from ferrying Tess to the doctor (who prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection) and a bit of shopping, I've spent most of the day at home making roast butternut squash soup for the invalid, and generally faffing about.

Great service from the garage we bought Chris's car from recently: it wouldn't start when he went to drive home after dinner last night; I phoned them this morning and by lunchtime they'd sent two mechanics the 15 miles from Bridgwater who diagnosed and fixed the problem in double quick time at no charge.

The cause was a corroded exciter wire which was stopping things from sparking into life - Tess reckons I've been suffering from one of these for years :)!
