Funchal

Just a glimpse of the charming heart of Funchal. The island of Madeira has a noble and well preserved historical identity. These are just a few of the buildings near to the Marina and just in front of the cathedral.

And yes - that is beautiful blue sky. We have been exceptionally lucky again today.

Warm, clear and not crowded (even though there are two cruise ships here today).

Plenty of chance to walk, or swim, have a coffee or a glass of wine. To enjoy this weather as it is December and we may have rain or storms at any point.

And although there is a respectful recognition of Christmas and they are putting together yet another beautiful display of lights, it isn't thrust excessively in a commercial riot.
