Day 15 - Amarillo, TX to Santa Fe, NM

Nothing more to see in Amarillo so after a light breakfast and some Facetiming with Mum and Fi we hit the road and continued west. First stop was the Cadillac Ranch - ten old Cadillacs buried in the groundless of Amarillo and spray painted in numerous hues over the years. Colourful and photogenic.

Back onto I40 with stops at Tucumcari and Santa Rosa for some Route 66 action. Drove along the original road and viewed various signs from original businesses that used to support the road before the I40 came along - some clinging on, many closed. Lunch in Joseph's in Santa Rosa, an original Route 66 restaurant - delicious authentic southwest Mexican food. Tacos and burritos.

Off the I40 and headed north to Santa Fe, New Mexico - a new state for us. Spectacular scenery along the way - the classic view of a road continuing forever into the distance with just mountains on the horizon. A quick stop at the outlets in Santa Fe before checking in to our cosy adobe style cottage room. Colourful! A short walk into the centre of town for cocktails in a funky lounge then dinner in the 'interesting' Cowgirl Hall Of Fame restaurant - meatloaf for me, butternut squash casserole for J.

Heating left on in the room so very cosy to return to. Cold up here in the mountains and snow is forecast tonight. Interesting.....
