Sunday 21 March 2010: Perspective

How do you convey the vastness and extremes of our landscape? I mean really, how do you?

Stood among the towering confines of Goredale scar, or teetering on the edge of the sucking abyss of Malham Cove; vertigo, parallax, fear, all telling you this is an extraordinary situation to be in. Then you take the photo. And it looks so flat, so ordinary. Well, I don't know but I continue to try...

At least we got some climbing outdoors done. In fact the numbers queuing for routes at Malham Cove was more like a winters evening at an indoor wall, hardly the extreme sport some people might imagine!
