Rocks and Pools

Had a great afternoon today. We joined in a big rockpool session with the RSPB. I'm not sure what it has to do with birds but they are good enough to organise it so why not?

Lots of fun had by all. And the rain stayed away which made it even better. The even took place near here. Where as you can see there are huge slabs of rock which are uncovered at low tide with some fantastic rockpools.

The boys, and Steven (who I think enjoyed it the most) found loads of beasties. My favourite was the beautiful little Brittlestar starfish. Lovely with it's fine stripey arms (legs?). I however seem to be one of the few who can look into a rockpool and see, well... not a lot.

As I was taking this pic of Campbell struggling with a big rock. I thought he had misunderstood 'rock' pooling. But it had 2 sea anemones stuck to it and he didn't want to take them off.

By the end of the afternoon, there were a lot of buckets full of poor wee creatures who wondered what hit them. We left the folk from the RSPB to catalogue them and then ask them which pools they came out of so that they could send them home.
