Drowned in the rain

How big are these rain droplets? This moth was enormous, relatively speaking, I've seen bigger but more subtle. I saw it first thing in the morning outside the back door, waiting for me and my camera. When I came back in the evening, the moth was gone, probably taking part in the circle of life. Or to put it blander: in the food chain.
