A few weeks ago, I wrote that salt water is no good for painted steel. I forgot to mention that salt water, steel and high temperature is even worse. The exhaust temperatures of our main engines are about 400 degrees centigrade. Of course it is lower when passing our funnels, but even then, the temperatures of the outside funnels are pretty high. Such temperatures are not good for the paint and after a few months towing in the tropics, the bright orange paint is not so bright anymore. When we arrive in Rotterdam we have to look brand-new of course, so here you see our A/B's brushing and repainting the complete funnel on portside
