Old Faithful

The Walker's Cherub Patent Log, a piece of equipment I mentioned before more than a year ago. I like old equipment from the past without software or batteries, laughing about Windows Vista and other modern equipment crashing twice a day. It works, and as long as sharks leave the fin untouched, it will continue working until the end of time. With the same accuracy as the day it was sold, decades ago. The reading of the last four hours showed a distance covered through the water of 50.5 nautical miles. The DGPS told me this was 53.3 nautical miles over exactly the same period. The difference divided by four hours gives us a current of 0.7 knots right now. Because of our high speed, the flywheel is spinning pretty fast, and I changed the shutter speed to lower values to capture the spinning effect on the picture. I also used a fisheye lens to show the circular shape of the earth, because we are passing the equator at this very moment.
