Rain over Comrie

Just about every description of Ben Chonzie describes it as boring. Maybe it usually is. Maybe it's just too popular and it must be quite dispiriting, if you're a bagger who thinks of yourself as a mountaineer, to have to walk past groups of picnicking families and realise that this mountain is doable by a five year old.

Unlike Schiehallion, the weather today was marvellous: and really bright clear skies that allowed you to see for miles. But photographically, I always find those huge panoramas quite disappointing when translated to film or the small screen. The walk down was more promising. The cloud was closing in and in some places the breaks in the cloud were putting lovely puddles of light into corries below. The rain was also nice. I managed to be in the right place to catch this rain just as it was falling on Comrie. The wind was blowing it away from us but the sun was in the wrong place to make the coming rain look good.

So, congratulations to Hannah, Ewan and Sunday. Their first Munro.
