Murphy

Last stop at Las Palmas was not only to get fresh provisions and new crewmembers on board, it was also for collecting some very important spare parts for our deck crane. It was a typical breakdown. A very tiny item prevents a big machine from running. Our engineers ordered the spare parts (a set of seals) and had them flown from Denmark to Las Palmas. Everything was specified in details, transport arranged and the shipment arrived in time at Las Palmas. So far so good, until Murphy showed up. The engineers started with the repair and soon discovered that from three different sets of seals and rings, only the smallest set was missing. And that happened to be the only one that was leaking.

These Murphy rules are hanging in my cabin since the new building of this vessel, almost 29 years ago, you can clearly see that. But shabby or not, what is says is still very very true. This time Murphy got us with his first green rule and the fifth from below
