Caroline Bay

This is the recently constructed boardwalk that meanders across the sand & dunes. The dunes have been planted in suitable coastal plants & are now starting to take hold and looking great.

The Bay, over the past 5 years has taken on a compete makeover and is looking fantastic. Over our Christmas & New Year holiday period a carnival is run drawing holiday makers from near & far. They run a free concert twice daily, sourcing talent though New Zealand, plus all the usual fair rides etc. It is well known for cheap but quality holiday entertainment. New Year's eve is a great night culminating in a superb fireworks display. Over recent years a complete (well almost) alcohol ban has been put in place which has encouraged families to return for the festivities.

Every Sunday a Farmers Market is held, plus many conventions, meetings & the like are held in the Caroline Bay Hall or Tearooms....both of these are really old buildings, but have been restored beautifully. The hall has a moving floor, which is always a heap of fun at functions where dancing along with some alcoholic beverages have been partaken....if you know what I mean!!! Oh, for those day again.

The Hydro Grand Hotel sits on top of the Bay Hill overlooking Caroline Bay, & a Piazza was build for easy access down to the Bay. If you want a look at this grand building take a look at my blip on 17th June 2010.

Today under beautiful blue sky it was a slice of paradise.
