343: Labor Day Tribute

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.

It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well being of our country.

-----------------

"What does this number mean here?"

"343?"

"Yeah."

"It's the number of New York Fire Fighters who lost their life that day".

Instant silence.

-----------------

Today's blip is a tribute to the men and women who work hard every single day to make our country a better place. To the men and women who are on the job today. Working on labor day because their jobs are to protect and to save. And these are jobs that do not rest on weekends or on holidays. Jobs that are consistent. Services that the people in our country rely and depend on.

On this labor day, I am taking a moment of silence for the 343 Fire Fighters that lost their lives in the line of duty. Rushing up those flights of stairs as thousands were trying to rush down. Labor day. Today, I celebrate these brave souls who will never be forgotten. Today, I celebrate the people whose professions know no limits. True heros. Always and forever.
