Warning: Another unpleasant photo

This is a juvenile Montagu's harrier, a stunning bird and rare in the UK and uncommon elsewhere. This is one of two harriers that were picked up today that had been shot. The first was a Marsh Harrier, it is wounded but stands a good chance of being rehabilitated and released. This one, however, as a severed wing bone and is very weak. It won't soar across the Med or fields again. But because it's rarity Birdlife Malta are trying to get it seen by a vet who can save it so it can be put into a captive breeding facility to help the species as a whole.

Currently the Maltese government want the bird seen by their vet, who will probably say it flew into a wall and then probably euthanise it.
