Our Day in Brissie

I have back blipped our 1st day of the hols.

Flash flooding overnight, or so the TV channels told us this morning. We are on the 13th floor of the Holiday Inn, and weren't aware of much, although did hear the rain.

A bit disappointing when we looked out over the city seeing cloudy skys with rain on the windows. Anyrate, not to be put off, we headed out to find some breakie then to do the touristy things. Temperatures nice and warm and only intermittent light showers.

We decided to take a River Cruise, and we are very glad we choose this.....it gave us a real good look at the city, seeing multi high rises, very classes apartment blocks with equally classy boats moored at the entrances, fabulous old wool & grain warehouses now converted to apartments, but keeping the exterior the same and many other interesting buildings etc.

On our return we decided to take a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane - a commentary was given pointing out landmarks, and interesting info. Amazing 360 deg views....This was well worth it also.

Then we walked over one of the eight bridges that cross the river and walked the Botanical Gardens before walking back to our pad.....exhausted!!

The rain has now set in well and truely, we timed our outing to perfection.

Off to Townsville in the morning, have to catch the 7am train to the airport.

Have had a txt from our daughter Janelle, she tells me she probably has swine flu - I really should be back in Wellington looking after her and her two wee ones - jeez, what with our son having surgery last Monday in Townsville & her so ill, its not a good week.
