O.K.C: Update

Day 4o: Operation Kitchen Cabinets.......which turned into Operation Kitchen Demolition about 15 days in.

So here we are. Every wall and all ceilings in our front room, dining room, kitchen, and family room have been freshly painted. All of the wiring is finished. The slate floor has been torn out. A wall has been removed. Part of the carpet removed and replaced with plywood (an extension of our hardwood floor). The new kitchen ceiling is updated with canned lighting. We will install the hardwood floor in the kitchen tomorrow and the window will be replaced on Thursday.......all of this in an effort of getting the kitchen ready for the kitchen cabinet/countertop install. And we now have a deadline. The 15th, this should all be wrapped up the week of the Nov. 15th when the materials are delivered.

40 days ago I suggested painting our old kitchen cabinets white. 40 days later, we are still working as hard as ever and constantly trying to balance our family activity time for our kids. They have been great little helpers and very flexible with this project. Always jumping at the chance to be in charge of a little job. This whole process has been a family affair but we are ready for it to be done. I asked my husband yesterday, "what will we do with ourselves when this kitchen is done?" And he responded, "Hang out with our family and do a lot of fun things". "Oh yeah, the way we usually live our life?", I said. "Exactly!!!!"

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. We are really hoping to be wrapped up by late November so that this project does not continue to drain us of our time and energy for months to come. We are so close it makes me smile. We've both worked harder than we've ever worked on anything before. We've both been under more stress than we even realize but it is now starting to pay off. We will be ready for those kitchen cabinets the day that they are delivered. That is the goal.
