I smell a feast!

"Abyssinians are totally UNREPENTANT food thieves. They will be thrilled to attempt to stalk and kill and unguarded roast, turkey or loaf of bread. You must creatively guard the pantry. It is best if you close your Aby off in a separate room during the prepartion of meals."
An internet quote from an Aby breeder.

The Thanksgiving week has begun and the turkey is in the refrigerator, thawing. It will be a week of kitchen crimes by the little ruddy imp. She has relentlessly stalked the bird every time the door has to be opened on the refrigerator. Immediately after we got her we were shocked at her unfeline-like human food adoration. The vet admitted that the breed is really food centered, and she has friends who always invite her for Thanksgiving dinner, their Aby securely under firm lock and key in a spare bathroom.

So, this will be a very difficult pre-Thanksgiving week for all of us, concerning the refrigerator open door policy... We are trying something new this year too. In the past we've bought a fresh farm turkey from Bongi's Turkey Farm,( apparently they will be featured on the History Channel on TV this Monday night at 9 EST in the States, or so they said yesterday). The twist this holiday is that we bought one already stuffed and roasted, then flash frozen. It's in the refrigerator thawing until the big meal on Thursday. We'll have fixings for fourteen and the traditional foods of the New England area. I expect you'll be hearing more about this upcoming holiday from me this week. Hopefully we will have a bird able to go into the oven for the nearly 4 hour reheat that's still intact under that foil and still sporting both drumsticks.

The bird in the box arrives

I can help unpack it...

Also, some for me!
