Wednesday 1 December 2010: Advent
Steven works at the Orkney Library and had the slightly mad but wonderful idea of turning part of the shelving in the children's library into a giant advent calendar. Behind each door is a christmas themed book or some info on the Bookbug
He has spent a lot of own time, in odd corners of the library cutting and glueing and painting and glittering* over the past few weeks to get it ready to be put up this morning.
The other staff all wanted to contribute too, so they have all been busy at home making the numbers to put on the doors. Has to be said they are a talented bunch, an amazing variety of craft skills are on show (Although rumour has it that some may have pressganged their children in to help). Hopefully if you have a look at the big picture you'll be able to see the numbers in more detail.

As they've put so much work in they have put a wee collection box at the desk for thse who wish to show their appreciation with a donation to Clic Sargent charity.
* he tends to glitter quite often but this was extra special christmas glitter.
