Spiral Staircase

Well we did eventually make it into port last night after 6pm with the aid of tugs, but in the dark and between squalls.
Having spent a week in Madeira some years ago, we elected to stay put on ship and attend a concert by a wonderful lady flautist Suzanne Godfrey who trained under the irish flautist James Galway. Apart from the flute, she played the piccolo and the tin whistle making the latter sound anything but tinny.

His Lordship who has been collecting white jackets and suits, linen and otherwise over the past year to cope with weddings in Oman and this first time cruise on the Queen Elizabeth, has actually forgotten to pack them. His grief is palpable if not a trifle hilarious to someone who doesn't 'do' dressing up.

This morning he hired a white dinner jacket at an astronomical price and then cancelled the deal, so horrified was he at the cost.
I'm secretly glad, as at the formal dress evenings it would have looked like he was accompanied by his housekeeper........but then I suppose I am.....

Apparently the ship is on red alert for the norovirus, so there is a lot of disinfectant gel about in public areas and people to see that you use it.

We are now steaming towards Antigua in the sun but with quite a brisk wind.
We have a balcony with our cabin, and so can sit and read or blip in peace, if we get the chance.
But already today we have heard a lecture on murder and been to the gym, and now look forward to a theatre show this afternoon and a comedy show tonight.

We may need to get home for a rest.

This blip is of the spiral staircase in the library.
