Orana Wildlife Park, NZ

A day out for all ages :)

Orana Wildlife Park in Christchurch is New Zealand's only open range zoo and was established in 1976. It has made contributions to the conservation of NZ native fauna including the Kiwi and Blue Duck. Internationally, Orana is known for its breeding programmes for Giraffe, Rhinoceros, Cheetah and Scimirar-horned Oryx.

We had a fabulous day, warm and no wind - perfect! We saw NZ Birds, Black and White Lemurs, Tigers, Kiwi, Tuatara (Reptile), Meerkats, Rhinos, Lions, Spider Monkeys and Giraffes. We were able to hand feed the Giraffes and touch them, wonderful experience! The farmyard was quite an attraction for our younger members which saw them feeding calves, lambs, donkeys, Kune Kune pigs and Ilamas.
Another attraction was the adventure playground where the flying fox was a hit with all of us.

There were three cameras taking photos and videos and far tooo many photos to choose from - I wanted to show them all!! Anyway a collage of the cousins and two favourite animals - there wasn't room for the giraffe but Daughter E and I will go back another day as we missed the feeding of the Wild Dogs.

This is a late blip due to sorting photos and spending our last evening together - special times will become special memories :))
