Fidra Lighthouse from the beach at Yellowcraig

Well this is one of my favourite little wanders, although it takes a surprisingly long time to get there. Both of my companions were complaining about being hungry and thirsty before we even got there, and we didn't take the precaution of taking a picnic... Not that the weather was suitable for this. After the stunning colours of this morning, it has turned into a really grey day, which belies the "forecast" on the BBC website, which states full sunshine for Edinburgh on Sunday. Hmmmm.

In fact, there were some lovely subtle colours in the sky, both over the lighthouse and, particularly, over Bass Rock which is also visible from there. But unfortunately recording those colours was beyond the technical capabilities of the Streak, so you get the rather monochrome effort you see here.

Apart from our ultimately fruitless attempt to "go west" last Saturday, this was the first time that we have been outside Edinburgh for weeks. The snow is now starting to melt, but last time that happened it was simply the signal for another dump. Here's hoping, this time.
